Stay ahead of the Driver CPC, says RTITB

As many within the transport industry will be aware, the Driver CPC for LGV deadline will be upon us come September 2014, meaning drivers have just 30 months in which to complete their training. It seems like only yesterday that the new directive was implemented, but it is important that drivers and employers alike realise that this date will come around incredibly soon. As a result, it is vital that they stay ahead of their training and consciously work towards keeping it up to date in order to meet new requirements.

In a bid to keep drivers and employers aware of this impending deadline, RTITB has heavily invested in Driver CPC, with a series of advertising campaigns and exhibition appearances booked ahead of 2014, which will effectively promote the benefits of Driver CPC training and the reasons why drivers must act now in order to stay legal and on the roads.  Although this new directive has received mixed reviews, it cannot be ignored and when implemented correctly it is an effective way in which driving standards can be improved and maintained in the UK.

On 28th November 2011, RTITB launched its dedicated Driver CPC marketing campaign, which appeared in 22 motorway service stations throughout the UK.  The advertisement, in association with Admedia, appeared until 25th December 2011, implementing a cleverly worded tagline to fit in with the location of the advertisements; ‘Relieve the strain of finding Driver CPC training’, whilst also promoting the use of Master Driver CPC Consortium members.  Not only did this campaign act as a timely reminder to drivers planning their training, but through the use of a text messaging service and dedicated Driver CPC training provider search page (www.rtitb.co.uk/cpc), drivers could obtain details of their nearest training provider.

RTITB will also be appearing at the Commercial Vehicle (CV) Show 2012, from 24th-26th April.  With an expected attendance of over 16,000, the CV Show is the largest annual haulage exhibition in the industry today.  Not only does this event provide an opportunity in which to further promote the importance behind planning training ahead of the deadline, but it also provides a fantastic opportunity for anyone who wishes to learn more about the services offered by RTITB, as the UK’s largest provider of Driver CPC training.

Continuing on from this, RTITB has also made a huge investment into this year’s Truckfest Peterborough event, not only appearing as an exhibitor, but also as the event’s associate sponsor.  During the event, RTITB will again be promoting the use of their Master Driver CPC Consortium members whilst also reminding them of the Driver CPC deadline, which come May of this year will be just 26 months away.

No matter what your thoughts may be in regards to Driver CPC, September 2014 will be with us soon and this new legislation must be acknowledged and adhered to if you wish to continue driving professionally.  RTITB will continuously strive to promote periodic training and hope that this important message regarding training will not fall on deaf ears so that drivers can continue to be just that – drivers.
