The Comprehensive Spending Review - one month on!

Taking place one month after October’s Comprehensive Spending Review, on 18th November 2010, The Transport Statistics Users Group (TSUG) and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT), are hosting ‘UK Transport in the Money Squeeze’.

PTRC logoThe organisations have invited leading experts from across the transport and logistics field to review the implications for transport and draw on the statistical evidence base to back up their arguments for what can be done.

‘UK Transport in the Money Squeeze’ will explore and investigate how changed policies can deal with underlying trends, problems and constraints, providing evidence that compares public benefit with public costs, and hence the degree of change which may be feasible and appropriate.

The opening address will be made by Louise  Ellman MP, Chair of the Transport Select Committee, along with presentations from some of the following industry experts:

  • Ben Marshall, Ipsos Mori
  • Professor Peter Mackie, ITS Leeds
  • Steve Gooding, Director General for Motoring and Freight Services, DfT
  • Anthony Boucher, Head of Profession for Statisticians, DfT
  • Professor David Bayliss, RAC Foundation
  • Jon Parker, Integrated Transport Planning
  • Stephen Plowden, Independent Transport Researcher
  • Professor Peter White, University of Westminster
  • Paul Le Blond, CILT Strategic Rail Forum
  • Professor David Metz, UCL

This conference, facilitated by PTRC Education & Research Services, is only £45 +VAT for CILT and TSUG members to attend (£150 +VAT for non-members) and will allow a significant amount of time for questions, debate and discussions in addition to the presentations from speakers.
