Tachodisc launches new ADR courses
Tachodisc has teamed up with Hazchem, the ADR experts, to introduce a range of SQA and JAUPT accredited ADR training courses. The courses have been developed to address all the legal requirements for drivers and workers involved with ADR.
The 3½-day initial course includes core subjects, knowledge and skills required to carry dangerous goods in packages and bulk, and safety measures appropriate to the various types of hazards in classes 2,3,4,5,6,8,9. The 5-day course extends to include the Tanker Drivers Awareness course, which is also offered as a separate training module. All the courses include exams, and can be attended on site at the company’s Warrington training school or on customer’s premises.
These courses can also count towards the 35 hours of Driver CPC Training; DSA guidelines state that up to a maximum of 21 hours of the initial ADR basic course and 7 hours of a 3-day ADR refresher course can be approved for Periodic Training.
In addition, the first day of the initial ADR course, which covers Hazard Awareness, is appropriate for any worker who has any involvement in dangerous goods. It is a legal requirement for any worker (i.e. office based/warehouse staff/ fork lift truck operator) who has contact with hazardous goods in any way to have awareness training before they start the job. The 1-day course covers the general requirements governing the carriage of dangerous goods. Hazard Awareness training has to be carried out every 2 years and the attendee receives a certificate of attendance.
Tachodisc’s ADR training portfolio also incorporates a separate 3-day ADR Refresher course. This should be taken every 5 years and is currently available at customer’s premises. However, it is advisable that candidates re-sit the initial 3½-day ADR course in order to benefit from the 21 hours CPC accreditation.
Specialist courses in Explosives and Radioactives and DGSA (Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor) also form an integral part of Tachodisc’s new ADR training range.
Karen Crispe, Tachodisc’s Managing Director says: “By expanding our operator and driver training division to include ADR qualifications, we can satisfy the needs of our ADR customers and reach a larger percentage of the road transport market.”
All the ADR courses have been competitively priced by Tachodisc, and start from just £130.
