Rail-served distribution park extension obtains planning permission
North Warwickshire Borough Council has granted planning consent for IM Properties to develop a 124 acre second phase at Birch Coppice Business Park which will provide up to 2,000,000 sq ft of rail-served warehousing accommodation.
Council members gave a unanimous decision to the scheme which is located half a mile from junction 10 of the M42 motorway.
Following the decision IM Properties’ development manager Kevin Ashfield thanked Council Members and Officers for their support and praise of the quality of building design and estate management demonstrated in the first phase of Birch Coppice.
“This is excellent news for North Warwickshire which comes at a time when job creation is vital for the local economy. Birch Coppice Business Park currently employs 2,500 people, twice as many as the former Birch Coppice colliery. Phase 2 will have the potential to create a further 3,500 jobs,” said Kevin Ashfield.
“We are looking to commence site infrastructure works as soon as possible and fully serviced plots will be available from March 2011. A key attraction to occupiers is that phase two benefits from the on-site Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal (BIFT) operated by Roadways Container Logistics.”
Birmingham property agents Eagleton & Company are acting for IM Properties in the letting of distribution space at Birch Coppice Business Park.
