The Fuelcard Company has small business sense

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has extended its contract with leading fuel card reseller The Fuelcard Company for an additional two years. The renewal of the contract, originally signed in April 2009, will mean continued fuel savings for FSB members.

The Fuelcard Company, card in useParticipants enjoy fixed price fuel cards and preferential prices on diesel.  They have a choice of eight different fuel card products, including such major names as Keyfuels, Texaco, Shell and Esso.  The scheme also offers members a consolidated HMRC-approved VAT invoice for every fuel purchase, to ensure 100 percent VAT reclaims on business fuel expenses.

More than 3,000 FSB members have already taken advantage of the scheme, and are expected to use their cards to buy a massive 10 million litres of fuel during 2010.

The Fuelcard Company Partnership Manager, Lee Atkinson, was instrumental in the extension of the partnership.  He said: “We truly believe that our fuel card offering is the right one for the Federation. Our broad offering ensures choice and flexibility.”

Sandy Harris, Chairman of Member Services at the FSB said: “Thousands of our members across the UK depend on driving to conduct their businesses, so the FSB Fuel Card scheme delivers tangible time and cost savings, through reduced administration and the keenest prices.

“In addition, a free FSB-branded online management service has been specifically designed by The Fuelcard Company to assist businesses who find that keeping in control of their business fuel purchases demands too much time and effort.  The facility gives cardholders 24/7 access to their fuel card account, for complete control of fuel usage and costs.”

All transactions can be monitored, while cards may be ordered, cancelled or restricted to certain purchase options – for example, fuel only, fuel and lubricants, or carwashes.  To prevent unauthorised use, they can be allocated to either a named driver or a specific vehicle.

The partnership was formed when the FSB looked into an expansion of its existing Keyfuels fuel card offering.  The Fuelcard Company was able to combine the Keyfuels offering with seven additional products, helping to ensure FSB members had access to just the right card for them and their business.”

Speaking last year, Sandy Harris commented: “We sought a partnership with a provider that had the critical mass, expertise and clout to deliver solid benefits at a time when cost savings and streamlined administration have never been more important to the small business sector.”

Established in 1974, the FSB currently has in excess of 213,000 members over 200 branches nationwide.  It is the UK's largest campaigning pressure group promoting and protecting the interests of the self-employed and owners of small firms.
