FedEx pledges financial and logistical support to aid migrants

With thousands of migrants and refugees arriving in Europe every day, FedEx is to deliver emergency hygiene and medical supplies to the people and communities affected by the crisis.  By utilising its range of logistical services, it will ensure supplies arrive in pristine condition immediate use.

FedEx has also pledged a donation of $1 million, in cash and transportation support, to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) – which will help to deliver both immediate and long term assistance – including the delivery of emergency supplies and critical medical aid.

David Binks, president Europe at FedEx Express, commented: “FedEx is committed to helping those arriving in Europe to escape conflict, as well as showing our support for the communities who are also affected by this humanitarian crisis.

“Working together with NGOs, we are utilising our global transportation network and resources to deliver immediate assistance where it is needed most and that lays the essential foundations for rebuilding lives.”

Besides the $1 million donation to the IFRC, FedEx will also use existing relationships with international organisations, including Direct Relief and Heart to Heart International, to work closely with local partners in the most affected countries.

FedEx will also provide ‘bags to the future’ for the youngest refugees affected by the current crisis.  Each bag will contain toys and other items to help children adapt to their new environment.  These are being made possible through FedEx employee donations.
